Six suspects arrested over fatal shooting of Belgian police officer

Six men have been arrested over the killing of Belgian police officer Nordine El Talbi.

The 41-year-old was shot in Jette, near Brussels, after police chased a stolen car earlier this week.

The suspects are all from Brussels, and one is a minor; police say they are known in connection with drug cases.

Three were arrested in Almería, Spain, one at a Paris train station and two in Belgium.

Five of the men were in the stolen car, which police found in Jette with drugs and three weapons inside.

The car had been taken by force from its owner in Tubeke, south of Brussels, and traffic cameras helped police spot it entering Brussels.

Belgian prosecutors want the suspects held in Spain and France brought to Belgium as soon as possible.
