Stoke Park Pavilions put on the market for £5.25 million

Stoke Park Pavilions in Northamptonshire is for sale for £5.25 million.

The property has been the Chancellor family’s home for 70 years, first under publisher Robin Chancellor and later his nephew Alexander.

Stoke Park is the remains of a Palladian house, linked by a curved colonnade and set in 113 acres.

Alexander’s widow, Susanna, said in 2022 that the house was owned and administered by a trust and that Alexander’s life was tied to it.

After Susanna died this year, the family reluctantly agreed that the trustees should sell the property.

The sale follows a complicated family history involving Susanna’s affair with artist Lucian Freud and Alexander’s daughter with another of Freud’s lovers; Susanna made substantial provision for that daughter’s education.
