Indonesian Police to Investigate Suspected Stock Market Crimes
Indonesian police chief Suyudi Ario Seto said police will investigate suspected stock market crimes after Indonesia’s financial regulator flagged possible violations.
The police will deploy a team from its criminal investigation agency and collect evidence before taking action.
The regulator, OJK, says individual and institutional investors allegedly manipulated DSSA shares through several brokerage firms.
It says the planned activity caused a significant rise in DSSA’s share price.
OJK has requested records, traced money flows and questioned company executives, individuals and foreign legal entities.
It also found alleged violations by brokerage executives and cases where people linked to company controllers obtained large share allocations while concealing their identities.
Police say they will act firmly if violations are proven to provide legal certainty in Indonesia’s capital market.
