Two men killed after shooting near Hebron; five Israelis wounded

Israeli forces killed two men after a shooting near Hebron in the occupied West Bank on Friday.

The Israeli military said the men had carried out an attack, but their identities and the intended target were not disclosed.

At least five Israelis were injured, some critically, and were taken to hospitals.

The military said it found ammunition in the men’s vehicle; one account said they may have planned a larger attack, but that was not confirmed by other accounts.

Israel ordered security forces to prepare for a full West Bank closure, while roadblocks and closures were already set up in nearby Palestinian towns.

The shooting came days before Israel’s general election, amid heightened tensions in the West Bank, including attacks by extremist Jewish settlers during the olive harvest.
