Berlin police search for missing 13-year-old amid crime suspicions

Thirteen-year-old Lisa T. has been missing since Tuesday morning after leaving her home in Berlin-Marzahn for school.

She was expected to take a bus from Barnimplatz to her school, but never arrived.

Police say she may not have left voluntarily and are investigating the possibility of a crime; this does not mean they believe she has died.

On Saturday, officers searched the area around her home with dogs and a helicopter, put up posters and asked residents for information.

The search was reported to involve around 220 officers by one outlet and more than 140 by another.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw Lisa or knows where she is to contact police by phone, email or at a police station.

The investigation is being handled by Berlin's fifth homicide unit, and the search was continuing.
