A+E Global Media Builds Korean Shows Around K-pop Talent

A+E Global Media is using K-pop stars to help attract audiences to its Korean shows.

The company launched its History and Lifetime channels in South Korea in 2017 and says most of its 14 original Korean dramas have featured K-pop performers.

Its shows have included artists Cha Eun-woo, Park Jin-young and Jung Yong-hwa.

A+E also works with Korean talent agencies to find performers earlier in their careers.

Beyond dramas, it has made 72 unscripted shows and 47 YouTube series; its web series Nego King has passed 200 million views.

The company is also moving into microdrama, a short-form format that began in Asia.
