Patrick Stewart’s Final Film Role Is in Avengers: Doomsday

Patrick Stewart’s final film role is Professor Charles Xavier in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

The film is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, and will bring together characters from Marvel’s cinematic universe and the earlier X-Men films.

Stewart played Professor X across many films over 26 years, portraying the wise and empathetic leader of the X-Men.

The character has died onscreen before, including in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Doomsday will be Stewart’s latest return to the role, though how much Professor X appears in the film is unclear.

Stewart’s death, announced on October 29, makes the upcoming appearance more poignant for fans.

His last roles also showed the range of his career: he voiced a sheep in The Sheep Detectives and played dramatic and comic parts across film and television.
