Carney and Ford set to announce support for tariff-hit industries
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford are set to announce new support after meeting in Ottawa.
The measures are expected to help Canada’s steel and auto industries, which have been hit by U.S. tariffs.
Tariffs are taxes on imported goods and can make trade more costly for affected businesses.
A source says support for critical minerals may also be included, though details have not been made public.
The announcement is expected after the leaders meet on Parliament Hill, with their finance ministers also due to attend.
Carney’s government is due to present its second budget on November 5.
Carney is scheduled to leave for Ankara, Turkey, later that day.
