Switch 2 sales fall 37% as Nintendo lowers its forecast
Nintendo says Switch 2 sales fell about 37% year on year in its latest financial reporting period.
The console has sold 26.35 million units since launching last year.
Sales are down from a particularly strong first year, when Nintendo sold 19.8 million Switch 2 consoles.
Nintendo raised the console’s price by $50 to $500 in most affected regions from September 1, but the latest figures do not show the full effect of that increase.
Nintendo now forecasts 16.5 million sales by March 31, 2027, below its previous forecast of 19.86 million.
The decline matters because it suggests the console may not repeat the growth of its predecessor, though game sales rose and Nintendo says new releases helped attract buyers.
Nintendo says the Switch 2 has sold 26.35 million units since its launch last year.
The company reported 6.29 million units sold in the most recent quarter, down 37.4% from the same period last year.
Nintendo reported 6.49 million Switch 2 sales for the six months from April 1 to September 30, 2026.
Nintendo forecasts sales of 16.5 million Switch 2 units by March 31, 2027, down from its previous forecast of 19.86 million.
The reports attribute the year-on-year decline partly to comparison with the console’s strong first year; the effect of the price increase is not yet clear.
