Former trust company chairman Zhang Wen expelled from party and public office

Chinese authorities expelled Zhang Wen from the Communist Party and public office.

Zhang was the former party secretary and chairman of Bank of Communications International Trust.

Investigators said he accepted money and gifts and broke rules on conduct, reporting personal interests and workplace decisions.

They also found that he used his position to help others with loan approvals and hiring in return for illegal payments.

The authorities said the violations were serious and included suspected bribery.

His unlawful gains are to be recovered, and the related property has been handed over.

Shanghai authorities sent the suspected criminal case to prosecutors for legal review and possible prosecution.
