ATP plans higher player compensation and tour changes from 2028
The ATP has proposed changes to the men's tennis tour from 2028 that would increase player compensation and change rankings and the calendar.
The package could bring total compensation to a projected $350 million, not including Grand Slam prize money.
It includes a proposed $50 million bonus pool, $25 million for players finishing the year in the top 250, and $30 million a year in pensions for 300 players.
The plans respond to concerns about workload and player support during an 11-month season, as players have called for more recovery time and a larger share of tour revenue.
The ATP also wants results at its biggest events to count more in rankings and to set aside weeks for different tournament categories.
The changes are intended to make schedules easier to plan and reduce pressure to keep entering events to chase ranking points.
The ATP will consult players and tournaments before seeking approval, with a final package expected to be presented at year-end meetings in Turin.
