Jets lose 38-33 to Raiders after defense gives up late scores

The New York Jets lost 38-33 to the Las Vegas Raiders at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, despite scoring on their first six possessions.

The Jets led 30-21 with 8:26 left in the third quarter, but their defense gave up scores on three of the next four Raiders possessions.

Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick summed up the mistakes after the game, with the Jets saying he meant “Jets beating the Jets,” rather than “Jets being Jets.”

The defeat left New York 2-6 and on a three-game losing streak; the Raiders had lost four straight before the win.

The Jets gained a season-high 439 yards, but scored touchdowns on only two of six trips to the red zone, leaving points unclaimed.

New York has allowed 92 points in its past three games, adding to pressure on coach Aaron Glenn, who has made defense a focus.

Glenn said he would look for ways to improve the defense, while the Jets need to address their mistakes in pressure situations.
