Kerala plans to develop Muziris as an international heritage tourism destination

Kerala plans to develop the Muziris Heritage Project as an international tourism destination.

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan announced the aim while launching water taxi and kayak services in the region.

The project covers heritage sites and communities around North Paravur, Kodungalloor and nearby areas.

More places are planned for connection, including Ezhikkara, Kottappuram and Azheekode.

The government also plans to develop museums, water sports, traditional food and visitor facilities, with public participation intended to support local businesses and jobs.

The revived boating services are part of the expansion, after they had been suspended.

The government says it will also improve Kerala's public transport, including new KSRTC routes.
