Netflix to cut about 1,000 jobs in its biggest layoffs since 2022

Netflix plans to cut about 1,000 jobs worldwide, its biggest round of layoffs since 2022.

The cuts amount to about 6% of the company's workforce.

Co-CEOs Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos told employees on Wednesday that product, technology, legal and human-resources teams would be most affected.

Netflix says its business is strong, but it wants to focus staff and resources on areas it sees as priorities.

The company faces a crowded streaming market, and concerns about slower growth and keeping viewers engaged have weighed on investor confidence.

Netflix is due to report its third-quarter earnings next week.
