Steam launches a daily-updated calendar of game recommendations
Valve has made Steam’s Personal Calendar a full feature after months of testing in Steam Labs.
The calendar recommends recently released and upcoming games to Steam users, with a store homepage widget and a separate page.
It compares a user’s recently played games with the play histories of people with similar profiles, then uses games those players play or wishlist to shape recommendations.
The system gives more weight to games users have spent a lot of time playing, so brief trials should have little effect.
Recommendations refresh daily, but Valve says they are more likely to change over weeks or when upcoming games confirm release dates.
Users can filter listings by tags, early access status and whether a game is on their wishlist.
The feature is part of Valve’s effort to make Steam’s store easier to navigate and help players discover games; developers cannot pay for placement in the calendar.

What people are saying
another way to see recommended games for you, showing both recently released and upcoming games filtered down to the set of games we think you are most likely to be interested in
uses your recently played games to find people with similar playtime profiles to you, and then looks at the games those players have been adding to their wishlist or playing
In reality you aren't likely to see your recommendations change all that much from day to day, but as time goes by you will obviously see new things pop up as the 8-week horizon of the calendar marches forward, or as games lock in their release dates.
