China’s clean-energy equipment output rises sharply

At a clean-energy equipment conference in Deyang, Sichuan, Chinese industry leader Xu Niansha said China’s clean-energy equipment supply is growing.

In the first half of 2026, output of nuclear power generator sets rose 92% from a year earlier, while hydro and wind power equipment output grew 51.9% and 11.5%.

Since the start of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the industry has developed rapidly, and the country’s hydro, wind, solar and biomass power capacity has ranked first worldwide for several years.

Exports of transformers, electrical control equipment and solar products also increased, and Chinese equipment now reaches more than 200 countries and regions.

Xu said the industry is at a key point in its shift to higher-quality growth and must use research and new technologies to upgrade.

The goal is to strengthen innovation and competitiveness as China builds its energy system and competes internationally.
