India cuts petrol export duty to zero and raises diesel and ATF levies
India has set petrol’s export duty to zero for the next 15 days, starting October 31.
The government also raised the export levy on diesel to ₹11.50 per litre from ₹8.50, and on aviation turbine fuel to ₹11 from ₹10.50.
The changes apply to fuel exports, not petrol and diesel sold for use in India, whose existing duty rates are unchanged.
The government reviews these levies every two weeks and says they are intended to support domestic fuel availability by discouraging exports.
The reviews have taken place amid supply risks linked to the West Asia conflict, which disrupted oil supplies and pushed international prices higher.
The new rates are in effect for the next 15 days; the government’s next review will determine whether they change again.

India’s diesel exports are expected to ease to 500-550 kbd in Nov–Dec as seasonal domestic demand peaks before recovering to 550–600 kbd in Q1 2027. Higher maintenance in Q2-27 will constrain export, with new capacity contributing meaningfully only later in 2027.
