Tony-winning Buena Vista Social Club musical to open in Mexico on November 12
The Tony-winning Buena Vista Social Club musical opens in Mexico City on November 12 at Teatro de los Insurgentes.
Mexico is its first international stop outside the United States, after its run on Broadway.
The show is inspired by the Cuban group Buena Vista Social Club and its Grammy-winning album of the same name.
Its 28 performers include Héctor Sandarti, Analy and artists from across Latin America and other countries.
Ten musicians perform visibly on stage, alongside the actors and dancers, rather than playing from an orchestra pit.
The production combines live music, dance and acting, and its Broadway run earned five Tony Awards, including a special award for its musicians.
