Indonesian Lawmaker Says Asset Recovery Is Not Enough to Measure Law Enforcement

Indonesian lawmaker Rudianto Lallo said law enforcement should not be judged by recovered assets alone.

Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office, Corruption Eradication Commission and police reportedly recovered Rp28.6 trillion in state assets during 2025.

Lallo praised the result, but said effective enforcement also means protecting the state from losses and punishing people found guilty.

He said Indonesia also needs a cleaner government free from corruption.

Lallo stressed that law enforcement must be independent and that cases should be handled transparently and professionally.

He said officials proven to have abused their authority should face firm action, without protection because of their rank or connections.

As a member of parliament’s Commission III, he said he would continue oversight to ensure law enforcement follows the rules and does not protect particular interests.
