Luise Bähr leaves Die Bergretter after 12 years

Luise Bähr is leaving Die Bergretter after 12 years playing emergency doctor Katharina Strasser.

The ZDF series is made in Ramsau, Austria, and follows a mountain rescue team.

The upcoming season will be Bähr’s last in the show, where Katharina is also an on-and-off partner of rescue worker Markus Kofler.

The character’s exit has not been explained, and it is not known when she will last appear.

In the current season, Katharina learns she has leukemia, but the show has not said whether this will explain her departure.

Bähr said she feels both sad and grateful to leave, and described her final helicopter flight in the show’s red jacket as a memorable moment.

She will join the new crime series SOKO Spurenjäger, set in northern Germany, while continuing to work with ZDF.
