Xiamen held events on November 7 and 8 to mark 160 years since Sun Yat-sen’s birth.

The program included speeches, stories from descendants of revolutionaries and an exhibition about Sun Yat-sen’s life.
Xiamen has ties to Sun’s revolutionary career and is across the sea from Taiwan.
Organizers said the events aimed to strengthen shared historical ties among people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and overseas Chinese communities.
They also said the gatherings would support peaceful and closer cross-strait relations.
