Banyumas Social Aid Registration Reaches 209,176 Families

Indonesia’s social affairs minister praised volunteers in Banyumas, a district in Central Java, for helping residents register for social protection.

A total of 8,217 local agents helped 209,176 families enter the system, a share the minister said was 32.21% above the national average.

The digital system is being used to update information about families who have received aid and those seeking it.

Government databases are linked to help check and update records across areas including civil registration, health insurance and electricity.

Artificial intelligence, not the agents, assesses eligibility for social assistance, while volunteers help people register and challenge decisions they believe are wrong.

Officials say more accurate data should help direct aid to eligible families, and registration is continuing for people who want to apply.
