LATAM Airlines’ third-quarter profit rose 16.3% to $441 million

LATAM Airlines earned $441 million in the third quarter of 2026, up 16.3% from the same period a year earlier.

Its operating revenue rose 18.4% to $4.567 billion, but adjusted EBITDA fell 4.7% to $1.095 billion.

Higher jet fuel costs weighed on results: fuel spending rose 60.9% to $1.57 billion as the average price per barrel increased.

LATAM said it passed on about 80% of the estimated $520 million fuel-cost impact through revenue.

Passenger revenue grew 17.8%, while the passenger load factor fell from 85.4% to 83.7% as capacity grew faster than demand.

The airline lowered its 2026 adjusted EBITDA forecast to $3.9 billion–$4.05 billion, from a previous range of $4.1 billion–$4.4 billion.

LATAM now expects fuel to cost $180 per barrel in the fourth quarter, up from its earlier estimate of $130, while its full-year revenue forecast increased.

Fuel continues to be a very relevant variable. This crisis will not go away any time soon, oil and aviation fuel prices will remain high, and that should also be the trend for 2027
