Turkey aims to raise trade share with OIC countries to 30% by 2028

Turkey aims to increase trade with OIC countries so they account for 30% of its total trade by 2028, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said.

The goal concerns Turkey's trade with the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, whose members span several regions.

Turkey's trade with OIC members reached about $108 billion in January–September 2026, up 8.2% from the same period a year earlier, according to Bolat.

Exports to those countries were about $55 billion in that period.

OIC members make up about 27% of Turkey's total trade, and the government wants to raise that share to 30%.

Trade among OIC members was about $979 billion in 2025, but represented around one-fifth of their combined external trade.

Bolat says Turkey wants closer trade and investment ties with member countries, including through a preferential trade system; the stated next goal is to reach the 30% share by 2028.
