Mercedes-AMG unveils electric GT SUV with up to 1,153 hp
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the all-electric GT SUV, a large performance vehicle built on its AMG.EA electric platform.
The SUV will come in three versions, the GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63, with the top model making up to 1,153 horsepower.
The GT 55 and GT 63 use a 128-kWh battery, while the GT 53 has a 106-kWh battery.
Mercedes says the larger-battery versions can charge from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes at up to 710 kW, although many US public chargers cannot deliver that power.
The company estimates a maximum WLTP range of up to 435 miles for the GT 55 and GT 63; actual US EPA figures may be lower.
AMG says the SUV is its first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house, and its electric motors and battery technology are intended to bring performance-car features to a larger vehicle.
US dealership deliveries are expected in summer 2027; the sources do not give a consistent launch date for other markets.
