Snap hires Robert Downey Jr. to promote Specs AR glasses

Snap has hired Robert Downey Jr. to promote its Specs AR glasses.

He will use the title Chief Customer Experience Officer and work with the Specs team on content, lens experiences and other features.

Specs are glasses designed to overlay digital images on the real world.

Videos featuring Downey show the glasses being used for activities such as practicing art and getting help with a golf putt.

The glasses are available for pre-order at $2,195 and are set to launch this fall.

A TV campaign is scheduled to begin during a Knicks-76ers basketball game, with another ad planned for the first game of the MLB World Series.
