DeepSeek releases faster, leaner update to its V4.1-Flash AI model
Chinese AI company DeepSeek released an updated model called V4.1-Flash-1017 on Oct.

The Hangzhou-based company says it is faster, leaner and stronger on several tasks than the previous version.

DeepSeek described it as a minor update to V4.1-Flash, which it introduced in September.
On a test covering questions in maths, science and the humanities, the updated model scored up to 42.6, compared with a previous top score of 39.1.
The launch comes as Chinese open-weight models compete with US companies’ proprietary AI models, which are described as top performers but more costly.
