Critical Role and Hololive team up for tabletop series Shattered Legends
Critical Role and Hololive are teaming up for Shattered Legends, a six-episode tabletop roleplaying series.
Hololive vtuber Nerissa Ravencroft proposed the project, and the cast includes Mori Calliope, Gigi Murin and Shiori Novella.
Matt Mercer and Marisha Ray join the vtubers in a story set in Exandria, Critical Role’s existing fantasy world.
The campaign uses Daggerheart, Critical Role’s own roleplaying game, which uses two 12-sided dice for hope and fear instead of Dungeons & Dragons’ 20-sided die.
Inspired by Berserk and Soulsborne games, the group aims to tell a darker story than fans might expect.
Mercer said working with the vtubers gave him greater appreciation for their performance skills, while the main challenge was the technical setup for filming people alongside animated characters.
The series is due to premiere in mid-November on Ravencroft’s YouTube channel, and Mercer said the characters could return for future adventures.
