OZAurum reports 95% gold recovery in Mulgabbie North heap-leach test
OZAurum Resources says a column test recovered 95% of the gold from paleochannel material at its Mulgabbie North project in Western Australia.
The sample was crushed and tested using a process called heap leaching, which extracts gold from ore placed in heaps and treated with a solution.
More than 90% of the gold was recovered in 65 days, and the test used less cyanide than the company says is typical.
The project, about 130 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie, has an estimated resource of 260,000 ounces of gold.
Fresh rock makes up 71% of that resource, and the company plans to test it next.
If those tests succeed, fresh rock could be considered for later stages of a potential open-pit heap-leach operation.
OzAurum Resources reported 95% gold recovery in a heap-leach column test using paleochannel material from its Mulgabbie North project in Western Australia.
The sample graded 2.58g/t gold and was crushed to -12mm.
More than 90% of the gold was recovered in 65 days, while cyanide consumption was 0.26kg/t.
The company says heap leaching could offer a potentially lower-cost development pathway.
Fresh-rock testwork is next, and the material accounts for 71% of the project’s contained gold.
