Indonesia Sends Rp240 Billion to Fight Forest Fires in West Kalimantan

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said Indonesia has sent Rp240 billion to help fight forest and land fires in West Kalimantan.

The money is presidential aid managed by local governments, not funding for central government operations.

An initial Rp200 billion went to the province and 10 local areas in the first stage.

A later allocation went to Mempawah, Landak, Sekadau and Sanggau, which had not received funding in the first stage.

The minister said local governments should use the funds fully and for their intended purposes.

West Kalimantan is one of six provinces prioritised for fire response, alongside Central Kalimantan, South Sumatra, Jambi, South Kalimantan and Riau.

Central agencies are also providing separate support, including weather modification and water-bombing operations.
