Ranbir Kapoor says he still seeks his late father’s approval

Actor Ranbir Kapoor says he still seeks his father’s approval through the films he chooses.

His father, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, died in 2020 when Ranbir was 40.

Ranbir said the loss did not fully register at first, and that his father’s advice and lessons made more sense over time.

He said he misses the guidance and support Rishi gave him as he built his career.

Ranbir has noticed that many of his films involve difficult father-son relationships, and thinks he may have chosen them in search of his father’s approval.

He also recalled that Rishi often questioned his film choices and asked which audiences they served; Ranbir shared these reflections while promoting his upcoming film Ramayana.
