Unused Black Flag Resynced Scene May Hint at an Assassin’s Creed Prequel
A dataminer found an unfinished cutscene hidden in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a version of the 2013 game.
In it, Edward Kenway meets Miko, a co-founder of the British Assassins, who says the king is dead and that he has called on the wider Brotherhood.
The scene then shows Adéwalé, a character from the Black Flag story.
The date implied by the dialogue points to 1727, while the game ends in 1722 and the Freedom Cry story begins in 1735.
Haytham Kenway, Edward’s son and the antagonist of Assassin’s Creed III, was born in 1725, and little of Edward’s life in the years around his birth is covered in the existing story.
Miko later appears in Assassin’s Creed III, where Haytham kills him, so the scene could be hinting at a story about Haytham’s early life.
Ubisoft has not confirmed that interpretation, and the cutscene video was taken down after a copyright strike; it is unclear whether a finished version or related project will appear.
A dataminer uncovered a scrapped, half-finished cutscene in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced that may hint at an Assassin’s Creed III prequel.
The scene shows Edward Kenway speaking with Miko, who says he has contacted the wider Brotherhood, before it cuts to Adéwalé.
The dialogue and characters have led to speculation that the scene concerns Haytham Kenway, Edward’s son and an antagonist in Assassin’s Creed III.
Ubisoft allegedly issued a copyright strike against the video, which is no longer available to watch.
The cutscene was not in the files for the original 2013 release of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, according to the article.
