Helldivers 2 switches to Easy Anti-Cheat to tackle unfair mods

Arrowhead is replacing GameGuard with Easy Anti-Cheat in Helldivers 2, its multiplayer game.

The studio said GameGuard was not as effective as it could have been at protecting fair play.

The change is intended to block mods that give players unfair advantages or affect others.

Easy Anti-Cheat is used in more than 200 games, Arrowhead said, and the studio plans to add security tools alongside it.

Some cosmetic mods may stop working until their creators update them, though Arrowhead says it appreciates mods that do not disrupt other players.

Players who believe the system has blocked a harmless mod or other software can contact the studio through Zendesk.

The switch is set to take place on October 20, with some disruption possible during the transition.
