Cowboy Bebop keeps its space-western focus, unlike The Mandalorian

Cowboy Bebop is a 26-episode space-western anime that the story presents as a stronger fit for fans of outlaw adventures than The Mandalorian.

Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe and animated by Studio Sunrise, the series first aired in 1998.

It is set in 2071, after a hyperspace gate accident leaves the Moon shattered and Earth barely habitable, and people have spread across the solar system.

In this setting, licensed bounty hunters called Cowboys pursue fugitives for cash.

The story follows a crew of outlaws aboard the spaceship Bebop, led by martial artist Spike Spiegel and former cop Jet Black, who are later joined by Faye Valentine, Radical Edward and a clever dog named Ein.

Their jobs are episodic, while Spike's past and unfinished business add a larger story beneath the bounty hunts.

Cowboy Bebop is available to buy or through the Crunchyroll Amazon Channel on Prime Video in the United States, and streams on Netflix in 36 international regions.
