De Minaur reaches Vienna semi-final to face Zverev

Australian Alex de Minaur beat Matteo Berrettini 7-6, 6-2 in Vienna to reach the semi-finals of the Erste Bank Open.

The win was his 350th tour-level victory and set up a match with Germany’s Alexander Zverev.

Zverev beat Britain’s Arthur Fery 6-0, 6-2 and entered the semi-final in strong form.

He had also beaten de Minaur in Shanghai, while de Minaur won their recent Laver Cup meeting.

A place in the Vienna final is at stake for both players.

De Minaur is also trying to qualify for the ATP Finals, the season-ending men’s championship, and a win would put him back in the last qualifying spot.

The winner will face the winner of the other semi-final between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.

That’s been an emphasis as of late, and I do feel like I’ve got in a good rhythm on serve and feel like I’m confident with what I’m doing

I maybe didn’t serve as well as I would have liked to at the start of the week, but today was a great serving display from me, and you know, hopefully I can keep it going.
