Indonesia’s Communications Ministry and Police Step Up Cybercrime Cooperation

Indonesia’s communications ministry and national police agreed to deepen cooperation at a meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The discussion was intended to speed up the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed in April 2026.

The agencies are responding to complaints about online scams, gambling, data trading and other digital harms, as well as misinformation and online bullying.

Police have acted against a cross-border online gambling network and theft of digital infrastructure, which can disrupt internet service.

The partnership combines prevention with law enforcement because the ministry says it cannot tackle these problems alone.

The agencies say they will coordinate more closely to improve digital safety, but gave no specific timetable for further steps.
