New legal challenge aims to stop MotoGP redevelopment in Adelaide park lands
SECRA has launched a legal challenge seeking to stop a proposed MotoGP redevelopment in Adelaide’s park lands.
The group says it has legal advice that claims under South Australian and federal laws have a reasonable chance of success.
It is raising money for legal costs, with an anonymous supporter matching donations of $250 to $1,000 until October 30.
This is the second recent challenge aimed specifically at stopping the redevelopment, after Joshua Hogan sought an injunction against the work.
Adelaide City Council’s consultation received more than 3,700 submissions, and 85 percent of park users said they expected negative effects.
Respondents also raised concerns about vegetation, wildlife and biodiversity, while the state government and hospitality industry criticised the consultation as negatively biased.
The council will use the consultation to inform its response to the South Australian Motor Sport Board.
