Trump cancels planned livestream of Nidal Hasan's execution

Donald Trump cancelled plans to livestream Nidal Hasan's execution after public criticism of the proposal.

Hasan, a former US Army psychiatrist, was sentenced to death by a military court for killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009.

He also wounded 32 people in the attack.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had said the execution, planned for December 3, should be broadcast to deter future attacks, but critics warned the footage could be used as terrorist propaganda.

Trump says Hasan will still face a firing squad, but without a broadcast.

The execution would be the first by the US military since 1961, if it goes ahead.

Hasan can still challenge his death sentence in federal court, and such a challenge could delay the execution indefinitely.
