Pasta prices in Italy fall 23.7% in two years
Italy’s average pasta price fell 23.7% in two years, to €1.59 per kilogram.
Prices had risen sharply from 2022, reaching an average of €2.13 per kilogram in 2023.
The latest figures show a further 2.3% drop between January and September, after the average price was €1.63 in December 2025.
Udine had the highest average price, at €1.91 per kilogram, while Syracuse had the lowest, at €1.10.
The figures come from a study by the CRC consumer research centre and Assoutenti, based on data from Italy’s statistics agency and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.
Prices were generally lower in southern regions, where pasta is eaten more often; the study said nearly 70% of people there eat it daily.
The price differences matter because the cost of a common food varies substantially depending on where people live.
The average price of a kilogram of pasta in Italy fell 23.7% from its 2023 peak to the end of 2025.
By 2026, the estimated average price had dropped further to €1.59 per kilogram.
Prices varied widely by location, from €1.91 per kilogram in Udine to €1.10 in Siracusa.
The Crc and Assoutenti based their study on data from Istat and the ministry’s price observatory.
The study said Sicily, Calabria and Campania had the lowest average prices, while Marche, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto were among the most expensive regions.
