North Korea promotes Sinuiju’s new night view after China bridge opens

North Korea is promoting a brighter night view in Sinuiju, its border city facing China’s Dandong.

The Workers’ Party’s provincial committee installed LED lights along the river and on nearby buildings.

A motor bridge linking Sinuiju and Dandong opened on October 15, raising hopes for more trade and exchanges between the two countries.

The four-lane bridge was completed in 2014 with about US$310 million in Chinese investment, but its opening was delayed for years because North Korea had not finished connecting roads and customs facilities.

Kim Jong-un crossed the bridge to visit Dandong on Saturday, highlighting ties between the two countries.

More trade and personnel exchanges may follow, though no specific plans are given.
