Lufthansa takes precautions as jet fuel supply tightens at Frankfurt Airport
Frankfurt Airport is facing possible limits on jet fuel supply, prompting Lufthansa to take precautions to keep flights running.
The airline is having aircraft on selected routes carry extra fuel before flying to Frankfurt, reducing how much they need to take on there.
Lufthansa says flight cancellations are not expected for now.
The company cited reduced capacity on a pipeline connection, while airport operator Fraport said a pipeline that supplies the airport is undergoing routine maintenance.
Fraport said it does not expect the maintenance to cause a shortage, citing other supply routes and large fuel storage facilities.
The extra-fuel measures mainly affect short- and medium-distance flights, and will remain in place for now and be adjusted as conditions change.
