Reds agree to one-year deal with Oswaldo Cabrera

The Cincinnati Reds agreed to a one-year deal with Oswaldo Cabrera on Thursday, avoiding salary arbitration.

The 27-year-old infielder and outfielder will receive $1 million, with up to $200,000 in bonuses tied to plate appearances.

Cincinnati claimed Cabrera off waivers from the New York Yankees on September 18, after he had spent most of the season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He hit .288 with 19 home runs in 122 games there, while appearing in seven major league games for the Yankees and Reds.

Cabrera missed most of 2025 after fracturing his left ankle, and has a .233 batting average over parts of five major league seasons.

His ability to play nearly every position gives Cincinnati depth at third base and in the outfield, where the team has no settled answer.

Cabrera could share time at third base or join the outfield mix, depending on who else the Reds add.
