Modi calls for monthly reviews of welfare schemes and infrastructure projects

At a Pragati meeting in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for closer checks on welfare schemes and infrastructure projects.

He asked state chief secretaries to review progress with district magistrates every month.

Modi also urged ministries and state governments to clear delays, improve coordination and make officials accountable.

He reviewed projects worth more than Rs 16,000 crore across 31 states and union territories, including railway projects, PM Ekta Malls and bulk drug parks.

The review raised concerns about land acquisition delays and slow work on Ahmedabad railway station’s redevelopment.

The station redevelopment is due by August 2027, according to an official.

Modi said spending should lead to visible improvements in people’s lives, and that PM Ekta Malls should help local products and artisans reach markets.
