Foreign visitors spent a record $8.38 billion in Brazil through September

International tourists spent $8.38 billion in Brazil from January through September 2026, a record for that period.

That was 10% more than foreign visitors spent in the first nine months of 2025.

September spending also reached a monthly record, at $904.7 million, up 8% from September 2025.

The figures were released by Brazil’s Central Bank and compiled by the Ministry of Tourism.

The spending growth comes alongside a record visitor flow: Brazil reached 7 million international tourists early in October, matching the record pace from the same point in 2025.

More visitor spending supports businesses across the country, including hotels, restaurants, guides and small businesses.

The wider tourism sector also generated 62,000 formal jobs between August 2025 and August 2026, and employed 2.42 million people.
