Alan Jones accuser’s mother testifies about son’s letter and their trust
The mother of an alleged victim told a Sydney court she trusted Alan Jones as a mentor to her son.
The man, known in court as complainant A, says Jones kissed and touched him without consent at Jones’s farm in Fitzroy Falls when he was 17.
Jones denies 21 charges involving five male complainants over alleged incidents between 2003 and 2020.
The mother said her son had first contacted Jones at 13 to ask for help with the family’s financial hardship, and Jones later provided financial assistance.
She said her son changed after the farm visit and was not sleeping well.
About 10 days later, he gave her a letter saying something had happened and that someone had done something they should not have; she wept while it was shown in court.
Her son said he feared it would be his word against a powerful man, and declined to report the alleged assault to police.
The trial is continuing, with all five complainants having completed their evidence.
The mother of a 17-year-old who alleges Alan Jones sexually assaulted him told a Sydney court she trusted the broadcaster and felt comfortable sending her son to his farm.
She said her son’s mood changed and he was not sleeping after returning from a two-night stay at Jones’s Fitzroy Falls property.
The mother told the court her son gave her a note about an incident of a sexual nature 10 days after the visit.
Jones has pleaded not guilty to 21 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching involving five men.
The court heard Jones had helped the mother financially, including with $100,000 for repairs to her house.
