Brazilian Investment in the US Rises to $11.6 Billion Under Trump

Brazilian companies invested $11.6 billion in US businesses since Donald Trump began his second term, according to Brazil’s central bank figures.

The total covers direct investment, including money put into businesses and reinvested profits, but not purchases of shares or other financial assets.

The US became Brazil’s third-largest investment destination, behind Switzerland and the British Virgin Islands.

Consultants say Trump’s tariffs have encouraged some companies to consider producing in the US instead of exporting there, while others are seeking growth and diversification in the large US market.

JBS, WEG and Embraer announced US projects worth a combined $982 million, including factory upgrades and a jet maintenance hangar.

The tariff shift may accelerate moves abroad, but Brazil’s government views the trend mainly as part of companies’ longer-term plans to expand internationally.
