Ametller Origen plans further growth and a major Agroparc project
Ametller Origen expects double-digit growth in 2026 as the Catalan food company continues expanding.
Led by Josep Ametller and his brother Jordi, the family-owned business has 154 stores, all in Catalonia, and says it is not planning to expand beyond the region for now.
Its newer store format keeps fruit and vegetables at the centre while adding categories such as meat, fish and prepared meals.
The company is building an Agroparc in Gelida to bring food production, processing and sales into one integrated operation.
Work began in September 2025, and the first phase is expected to open in the first half of 2028.
The project is planned to include a processing plant, a biofactory, water generation and crops, and is intended to be energy self-sufficient.
A separate horticultural hub in Mont-Roig del Camp is at an earlier stage and aims to support more technology-based farming.
Ametller Origen plans to keep growing at double-digit rates in 2026 and says it can fund its projects with its own resources.
The Catalan food group has 154 stores after opening seven this year and plans to focus future openings on towns where it is not yet represented.

What people are saying
This year we will also grow at a double-digit rate; we have met our objectives.
We want Ametller to be a 100% family company, because this gives us great agility.
It means closing the circle, consolidating the vertical chain, from production to sale to the consumer, passing through all the stages.
