Yeongwol to host forum promoting local food and exports
Yeongwol in South Korea will host a global Korean food forum from Oct.
29 to 31.
More than 130 Korean food industry participants from 22 countries and 37 cities are expected to attend.
The event will present local dishes inspired by King Danjong, a former king whose history is closely linked to Yeongwol.
The menu draws on a story that local people offered wild greens to the king, including the ingredients eoseuri and gondre.
Organisers hope to connect the region’s food and history and help local farm products reach overseas markets.
The programme includes food displays, tastings and export consultations between overseas Korean food businesses and local companies.
Organisers say they plan to build on the forum to develop, brand and export more processed foods made from local produce.
