Raventós Codorníu seeks €240 million in loans to refinance debt and pay dividend
Raventós Codorníu is negotiating €240 million in bank loans to refinance debt and pay an extraordinary dividend to its shareholders.
The Spanish cava and wine group is 68% owned by US investment firm Carlyle, with the remaining 32% held by about 80 minority shareholders, including members of the founding Raventós family.
Codorníu currently has about €157 million in debt, and the proposed financing would include a €200 million long-term loan and €40 million in credit lines.
About €100 million could go to shareholders, although the final dividend may be smaller.
The payment would let Carlyle receive some returns on its investment after a sale process for the company has not progressed so far.
The refinancing is expected to be completed by the end of the year; the loans and dividend are still under negotiation.
