Veritá poll puts Flávio Bolsonaro ahead of Lula before Brazil runoff

A Veritá poll puts Flávio Bolsonaro ahead of Lula in Brazil’s presidential runoff, with 51.56% to 48.44% of valid votes.

Flávio Bolsonaro is a senator from the PL party, while Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is the sitting president and candidate for the PT.

The poll was published on October 24, the day before the runoff vote scheduled for October 25.

Valid votes exclude blank and spoiled ballots, the measure used to determine the election result.

Veritá interviewed 15,554 voters by automated telephone survey from October 19 to 23, with a margin of error of one percentage point.

The lead grew from 2.6 percentage points in the previous poll to 3.12, but the figures are a snapshot of voter intentions, not the result.

Voters will decide the contest at the ballot box, and the sources give no results beyond the poll.
